The Immunise Australia Program

The Immunise Australia Program funds the purchase of vaccinations to protect millions of Australians from vaccine-preventable diseases.

In addition, the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) (formerly known as the Australian Childhood Immunisation Register (ACIR), is now a whole of life register capturing adult and childhood immunisations.

Through the AIR, vaccination providers have secure access to a range of due and overdue reports, which allows them to monitor vaccine uptake in both young children and older Australians.

Practice Assist, through the WA Primary Health Alliance (WAPHA), collaborates with the WA Immunisation Networks to develop strategies for continuing to improve awareness and uptake of vaccinations both in the community and in general practice.

Our Primary Health Liaisons can assist your general practice by providing you with support in your practice, such as:

  • requesting access to the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR)
  • initial login and authentication file
  • the use of the secure email function and data cleansing
  • working to improve timeliness and accuracy of data being reported to AIR
  • promoting the use of recall & reminder systems for all immunisations
  • providing general updates through regular communications
  • working with the Communicable Disease Control Directorate Prevention and Control Program to develop and promote appropriate interventions to improve immunisation coverage.
